Arriving home after a few days away, we found that our friends over at RuggedRidge.com sent us our newly released Rugged Ridge Magnetic Protection Panels to install, test and review. It didn’t take long for me to unbox the protection panels and examine what exactly had just arrived. The box was about 4 foot by 3 foot and was relatively heavy. However, when the box was cut open we found a well packaged, slick looking matte black trail protection.
INSTALL
The install was extremely easy, all you have to do is:
- unbox
- ensure surface of your jeep is clean to avoid additional scraps on paint
- place correct panel in correct location and press to ensure hold
Each panel was easy to place, but the larger door panels took a little bit of adjusting due to when set close to the doors their magnetic forces grabbed hold and stayed put. I can’t say that for all the magnetic panels though. The smaller covers at the base of the doors that sit slightly above the rock panels or side steps aren’t as strong. I found that after a couple of days driving on the highway, prior to trail riding I lost one of the smaller strips.
OVERALL
Overall, the Rugged Ridge Magnetic Protection Panels are a must MOD for any trail rider taking on existing trails or forging their own with peace of mind. The panels are durable, thick and 90% of them stick to the Jeep amazingly. I quickly found that I loved the matte black look of the panels of against my glossy JKU paint job and feel confident that these will look equally as good against all Jeeps regardless of color. However, most importantly the functionality of these panels will prove to be a solid decision to protect your investment.
